I just saw that Ian put up some "new" exercise logs that consisted of his training from other years. I remember him once telling me about his LA Marathon as a freshman. I just read the log and holy shit, it's ridiculous!
I think this seriously deserves a read:
Ridiculous
Also 3.9% is ridiculous.
And ridiculous is my favorite adjective.

sweet 28-miler!
yeah, two weeks before the race.
I think I used up most of my 9 lives as a runner during that stretch of training, which is why I'm so injured now...
I've transcribed a few more logs, and will try to get them all up eventually.
Here's the full list.
I think the 28 miler was a good idea. I seem to remember Galloway (not new shitty Gallowalker Galloway but Olympic Caliber Galloway) saying something about how he used to do 120 or more miles a week but would still bonk during marathons cause his long run wasn't very long, where as some other guy (was it Kenny Moore maybe?) would do 90-100 a week but have a 30 mile long run and never bonk. After he switched to the overdistance long run, he never had problems again.
So that 28-miler might have been the secret to your no-bonk marathon, which was pretty sweet.
Oh, I definitely bonked. It was just at mile 24 instead of mile 20. I remember getting to mile 20 and feeling really nervous, then reaching 22 without any trouble and throwing in a little surge from 22-24, passing several people. Then when I did hit the wall there was no arguing with it. But at least I only had 2 more miles to go.
