Last time I saw Dave, I told him to log his miles and try doing more than 10 miles. He said something along the lines of "Invariant topolgies of 2-manifolds don't figure themselves out," and then proceeded to go all goofy-eyed and blurt in math-tongues. Someone who know math needs to talk to him because I don't think I was getting through.
