What's the best way for me to get myself and my bike to Denmark? I've been thinking about these logistics recently and I have come down to two options:
1) Bike carrier. Tracy has one that I can borrow, it has wheels and stuff, and I could probably fit everything (wheels, clothes, etc) into it.
Pros: easy to move around, robust, designed for bikes, easy for return trip.
Cons: Once I get the bike out, I have a giant suitcase/box thing I have to schlep around, possibly on public transportation, for 2 weeks.
2) Cardboard box.
Pros: I can ditch it at the airport and ride off with my "suitcase" (backpacking backpack) and panniers and be totally self sufficient. No worries about getting around, Copenhagen has tons o' bike lanes.
Cons: I gotta find more boxes before I leave. Can I fit my wheels in there too?

why should it be YOUR responsibility to go to copenhagen? why not have copenhagen come to you?
Hmmmm...
You have to be careful about shipping charges on airplanes. Unless USACycling gives us some sort of discount or voucher to ship it for free (I've heard of it, but can't seem to find much on it). It could be expensive.
How did Will and McKeen get theirs overseas?
The cardboard box sounds better (since you can ditch it). That is, unless you can get all your other stuff into the bike carrier + carry-on(s). Would you be able to stash the carrier at Henrik's place?
You should talk to Zane. One summer he flew with his bike to the UK, packing it in a cardboard box.
Oh, and there's definitely no problem finding bike boxes in Pasadena-- any of the 5 bike shops generally has a few empties sitting outside.
